The Hyde Group, one of the leading providers of affordable housing in South East England, recently completed a major refurbishment programme on a Residential Care Home in Whitstable. Appropriately name ‘The Oysters’ after the ‘natives’ for which Whitstable is justly famed, the block consists of 38 flats for elderly couples and single people plus on-site accommodation for the resident warden. Following the total refurbishment of the building’s central boiler system last year, the programme this year has included the installation of new heating pipes and radiators to ensure warmth and comfort for residents during the winter months. Clearly it was essential that the 15mm copper pipe used was covered to protect flat-holders against burns, especially in the case of a fall.
F. Sladden of Canterbury, the M&E Contractor for the site used pipe cover systems manufactured by Talon and all pipework was secured using the Talon Hinged clip range.
